Why should I cleanse?

The positive transformation a juice cleanse can have on your body from the inside out is phenomenal. Flood your body with nutrients, feed your inner being and drink in wellness, health & happiness. We’re pretty sure you will thank us for it.

How often should I do a juice cleanse?

This is very dependent on the individual and exactly what your objectives are. In general, if you eat clean and are healthy then every 3 months should be adequate, however some prefer to do them every season. At The Natural Juicing Company, safety is our prime concern, so always seek help if you aren’t sure.

I eat really healthily, do I still need to juice?

Eating healthily is a very subjective thing and often even if we think we are eating well, in fact we aren’t always getting everything the body needs in order to function at its best.

No matter how well you eat, there is always room for healthy juices, especially as many of us lead exceptionally busy lives and don’t always get the time to eat as well as we would like. We realise that not everyone is suited to a cleanse and you may decide that our 'mix & match' approach is more suited to your needs.

I’ve heard about some of the negative effects of detoxing such as headaches, skin breakouts, nausea and low energy – will I experience these?

Detoxification is a natural process that takes place in the body continuously. However, if over long periods of time you don’t give the body what it needs to detox then it has to store these toxins away to prevent them causing damage. This means that if you then do a cleanse, toxins can be drawn out of storage, which can for some people cause symptoms such as breakouts, headaches and low energy.

Though this is a sign that the detox is working, it is important that this process is done safely and carefully, so for those who may be at risk of more severe symptoms, we strongly recommend you seek advice from our Nutrition Guru to ensure you feel your best throughout the cleanse.

Is juice cleansing healthy?

What could be more healthy than drinking the goodness of so many fruits and vegetables each day? Each juice has over a kilo of fresh produce in it. During a short term juice cleanse, you tidy up your diet, eliminate toxins and get on track for a lifestyle change. We’d say that’s pretty healthy!

Will I have the willpower to get through the cleanse?

YES! Motivation is a powerful tool with a juice cleanse. Remember your goals and why you decided to cleanse in the first place. Focus on what you are looking to achieve. Remember, we have a resident Nutrition Guru who's service you can add on at checkout.

Can I eat when on a juice cleanse?

Quite simply - no. The idea of a cleanse is that you give your digestive system a break to repair itself.

Will I be hungry?

Maybe, maybe not. You will be drinking 3 litres of juice plus 2 litres of water a day – this will probably fill you up! You may miss chewing though. Distraction is the key to getting you through these tough moments. If you feel the urge to eat, it will be more out of habit than because your body needs nourishment.

What if I feel low in energy during the cleanse ?

Most people report feeling more energised and satisfied on the cleanse, however we always advise you start a juice cleanse on a Friday, so that you have Saturday and Sunday to relax as opposed to being busy with work.

If you really feel that you need extra support, we recommend having a handful of almonds, brazil nuts or pumpkin seeds.

What should I eliminate from my diet before and after a cleanse?

Ease yourself in and out of the cleanse gently. Avoid alcohol, dairy, meat and wheat. Instead try focusing on consuming raw fruits, veggies and whole grains, to increase the benefits and effectiveness of your cleanse.

Can I exercise during a cleanse?

Ideally it is best to avoid exercise whilst cleansing, largely because calorie consumption is likely to be reduced. Especially if it is your first time embarking on a juice cleanse.

If you are keen to exercise, then we recommend you choose to have our Nutrition Guru advise and monitor you throughout your cleanse to ensure you support the body safely. Listen to your body and don't over exert yourself. This is no time to try marathon running.

Will I lose weight?

Unlike most cleanses, weight loss isn't our ultimate goal. We want you to feel good from the inside out - emotionally and physically. However, having said that, you are very likely to lose weight if you have weight to lose. For those undertaking the 5 Day Plan we recommend taking your body measurements before and after, so that you can see just how many inches you drop as well as pounds.

Should I drink all of the juices in the plan, even if I’m not hungry?

To ensure that you receive your full range of daily vitamins and nutrients, we advise that you do. However please don’t force yourself.

Do I drink my juices in any particular order?

Nope. Simply drink them in your preferred order. Go wild and mix it up.

Should I drink my juices at any particular time during the plan?

We recommend drinking a juice every two hours throughout the day.

What else can I drink when on a juice cleanse?

We recommend you drink 1.5 litres of good quality filtered water. Ideally, your urine should be light straw colour- this is a good sign you are hydrated. We also recommend you start the day off with hot water, lemon, ginger and cayenne pepper. You can also try detox tea blends throughout the day, or green tea if you need an energy boost.

Why are my stools/urine a funny colour?

This is completely normal and down to the sheer amount of fresh produce you are consuming. Beetroot and leafy greens will have a particularly strong effect on the colour of your waste.

Can I cleanse whilst on medication?

Be smart and safe. In this instance we would recommend you speak to your doctor for advice.

Can I do a juice cleanse if pregnant or breast-feeding?

No. It is not recommended for pregnant women or nursing mothers to cleanse. We would recommend supplementing a healthy diet with juices from our 'mix & match' range instead. Peruvian maca is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers, so please inform us and we will tailor your juices to be safe for you.

What possible side effects could I experience?

You may experience fatigue, headaches, low blood sugar, constipation or diarrhoea, increased body odour, a furry tongue or bad breath. Yikes! However, most of these side effects are temporary and should be embraced. This is your body doing what you have asked it to do - detoxify. Increasing your water intake can help alleviate many of these symptoms.

Where will I get my protein from?

Most people don’t realise that there are so many fruits and vegetables out there that have good quality proteins in them. Because we juice them in such large quantities you can rest assured that you are getting what you need from our juices. It is actually easier for your body to extract and absorb nutrients from fresh produce in a raw, liquid form rather than a cooked form.

Where will I get my fibre from?

When we juice we deliberately remove fibre from the juices to give your digestive system a chance to recover and repair. Having said this, our juices do contain soluble fibre in vast quantities.

Can I drink juice between cleanses?

Most definitely! Why not 'mix & match' and try to drink at least one a day to extend the benefits of your cleanse?

What can I do to enhance my cleanse?

Adding extra super foods into juices can also enhance detoxification by supporting liver function. if you want extra help, or would like to know about specific supplements that can help during cleanse, please speak to our Nutrition Guru - Alice Mackintosh.

How do I store my Juices?

As soon as you receive your delivery you must freeze or refrigerate your juices. Simply remove your juices from the freezer the night before you intend to consume them.

How long do my juices last?

Your juices will last 72 hours in the fridge. If you do not intend to drink all of your juices within this time frame we recommend you freeze your juices as soon as you receive them.

How do I defrost my juices?

In order for your frozen juices to defrost best overnight, remove them from the freezer, place them on a towel, in an upright position and leave to defrost for 12 hours. Do not refrigerate. Refrigerating the juices during this time will simply stall the defrosting process.

I want the benefits of your juices but what if a juice cleanse just isn’t for me?

You are not alone.

  • Our power juices are ideal for those that want to supplement their usual diet with a healthy fix of juice. You could even spread these juices throughout the day and then still eat dinner like a 'normal person' - a happy balance!

Are there any sugars in the juices?

You will find no added sugar of any kind in our juices. There are however sugars found naturally in fruits and veggies that exist in nature. Keep in mind that natural fruit sugars are processed differently by the body and aren’t present in our juices in a disproportionate level. We also work to ensure our juices have a lower GI and keep energy levels balanced by using mainly vegetables, and combining with protein dense superfoods.

How many calories are in each juice?

Although we know calories are a concern for many individuals, we don’t believe in counting calories. A juice cleanse is not a diet. It is a way of providing your body with optimal nourishment and soulful energy. Having said that, there are between 200-300 calories in each of our bottles. You can read the nutritional breakdown for each of our power juice by clicking on each juice here.

What if I don’t like the taste of the juices?

All of our juices are delicious- take our word for it! But if you are not sure, why not 'mix & match' first. An ideal way to sample the juices within the cleanse before you commit.

What if I’m allergic to an ingredient in the juices?

Because all of our juices are hand made to order we can try to tailor any juices for extreme allergies. Please just email us, or leave a note at checkout.

Are your bottles BPA free?

Yes. All of our bottles are 100% BPA free.

Do your juices contain nuts?

No, they don't. However they are made in the same kitchen that processes our Chai Nut Milk.
